The 2019 Mazda3 Sedan and Mazda3 Hatchback gas mileage ratings are tough to beat when compared to the competition. With easy-going vehicle dynamics and impressive engine power, the Mazda3 is a great pick for drivers who are eco-conscious but want a little oomph on Sarasota drives. Below, learn about the Mazda3 engine specs and EPA mileage ratings.

Mazda3 Sedan Engine & Gas Mileage

The Mazda3 Sedan trim levels are equipped with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. Here are the EPA estimates for each 2019 Mazda3 4-Door trim level:

Mazda3 Sedan Engine Specs

  • Engine type: SKYACTIV®-G1 2.5L DOHC 4-cylinder with VVT
  • Horsepower: 186 hp @ 6000 rpm
  • Torque: 186 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm

Mazda3 Trim Level Gas Ratings

  • Mazda3: Up to 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway*
  • Mazda3 Select Package: Up to 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway*
  • Mazda3 Preferred Package: Up to 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway*
  • Mazda3 Premium Package: Up to 27 mpg city/36 mpg highway*

Mazda3 Hatchback Gas Mileage

Although larger than the Mazda3 4-Door, the Mazda3 Hatchback maintains the same 186 hp as the Mazda3 Sedan. The Mazda3 Hatchback fuel efficiency is also respectable:

  • Mazda3 Hatchback: Up to 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway*
  • Mazda3 Preferred Package: Up to 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway*
  • Mazda3 Premium Package: Up to 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway*

SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY is the not-so-secret engine technology that Mazda Models utilize to balance great power with superior gas mileage. Vehicles with SKYACTIV®-G, such as the Mazda3 compact sedan and 5-door Mazda Hatchback, use a naturally aspirated combustion engine that compresses the air/fuel mixture at a rate of 14.0:1. This results in an efficiency increase of around 15%.

Mazda3 Tires Can Increase Efficiency

The tires on your Mazda3 do affect the fuel efficiency of your car as you cruise the Tampa streets. If you haven’t had your tires balanced or rotated recently, something the Cox Mazda service center is very familiar with, your mileage may be suffering. Similarly, whether you’re shopping for all-season tires or summer tires, Cox Mazda can help you choose the right set for road trips. Here are a few recommendations from our parts department:

  • Pirelli Cinturato P7 (All-Season)
  • Goodyear Assurance TripleTread (All-Season)
  • Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 (Summer Performance)
  • Falken Pro G4 (High-Performance All-Season)
  • Michelin Defender T + H (All-Season)
