The 2014 Mazda2 vs. the 2014 Chevy Sonic
Compact, affordable, stylish. There are few words that better describe the 2014 Mazda2, available to Bradenton and Tampa area drivers at Cox Mazda. We carry the full line of Mazda vehicles, including the Mazda2, and as more and more drivers realize that they can get a great looking small car at a great price, we’ve seen the interest in this incredible little Mazda rise and rise.
The small car market is surprisingly big, though. Does a vehicle like the 2014 Chevy Sonic have something that the Mazda2 doesn’t? Let’s take a look.
Hatchback vs. Hatchback on Affordability
When you want versatility in a small car, a hatchback is the way to go, and both the Sonic and Mazda2 come in hatchback models. They’re also pretty comparable in price, though Mazda’s vehicle is a bit less expensive.
The 2014 Mazda2 Sport starts at $14,720, while the 2014 Sonic LS is at $14,770. If you give them comparable levels of equipment, the gap widens a bit to $15,515 on the Mazda and $15,595 on the Chevy, showing us that the Mazda comes somewhat better equipped.
Fuel economy is a win for the Mazda as well, saving you more money in the long run. While both models have a 35 mpg highway fuel economy, the Mazda2 gets 29 mpg in the city to the Sonic’s 26 mpg. Those savings will add up every day.
Mazda Wins on Features
As if saving money weren’t enough of a reason to go with the Mazda, you’ll find more in the car too. Would you believe that the Sonic doesn’t include a CD player? What about power accessories? We’re surprised to find a modern vehicle lacking in these expected features too.
Mazda also gives you the option of a navigation system from the basic trim level, but such features require both a trim level and add-on upgrade for the Sonic. The fact is that you just get more with a Mazda, and you get it for less. What else could you ask for?
Test Drive a Mazda Today
There are few vehicles on the road that can hope to look as stunning as a Mazda, and the same can be said about the 2014 Mazda2. But you know that the only way to get a real understanding of a car like this is with a test drive.
Visit Cox Mazda in Bradenton and take one for a spin today. Tampa drivers, we’re just a quick trip, and we think you’ll be glad you made the drive.
