Mazda CX-9 Vs. Ford Flex
2013 Mazda CX-9 vs. the 2013 Ford Flex
Crossover vehicles are some of the most popular among our Bradenton and Tampa drivers, and options like the 2013 Mazda CX-9 make for a great family vehicle. The new CX-9 is available now at Cox Mazda, and we think you’ll be impressed by its affordability, style, and features, all of which make it a class-leader.
The crossover segment of the auto market is larger than ever, though, and vehicles like the 2013 Ford Flex want to compete with the popular CX-9. Take a look and see for yourself how they stack up.
One of the things we love about the CX-9 is that it, like all new Mazda vehicles, has a style and flare you just don’t see on many other automakers. While this is an aesthetic choice, we’re really happy it’s a step away from Ford’s pursuit of the boxy car tradition that the Flex seems proud of.
Versatility is the name of the game when it comes to crossovers, and while both vehicles offer similar options with regard to storage and towing as seven-seat crossovers, when it comes to features, the Flex is lacking. Features that are optional on the CX-9 that aren’t even available on the Ford include:
- Front heated seating
- Fog lights
- Heated exterior mirrors
- Tow hitch receiver
And drivers of the CX-9 also get automatic climate control with separate driver/passenger controls as standard, another feature that Ford doesn’t think you’re interested in.
Despite offering drivers more, Mazda’s crossover costs less, with a base MSRP at $29,785 to the Flex’s $30,900. We’re not sure where the extra $1,115 goes, but we think you’d like to keep it for yourself, right? Especially when the experts at J.D. Power and Associates ranked Mazda vehicles as having higher initial quality than competing Ford models with Ford averaging 21 more problems over every 100 vehicles than Mazda.
