The popular Mazda5 is a rarity in the automotive world: a minivan with a tight footprint, nimble handling, and excellent visibility. Retired after 2015 for a complete redesign, the 2017 Mazda5 is preparing its return, offering the same user-friendly features Sarasota and Bradenton drivers have come to rely upon, as well as the Mazda quality they demand. Scheduled to debut in late 2016 for the 2017 model year, the Mazda5 is said to have a base price of around $22,400, making it one of the most affordable minivan options on the market. Engineers have redesigned the exterior of the 2017 Mazda5, giving it a sleeker, more aerodynamic appearance and will include a new grille design and enhanced headlights for improved visibility and style.
The Mazda5 will be offered in three trim levels; the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring models. This variety gives drivers to select the level of features and luxury options that best suit their budget.
Even at the base trim, the Mazda5 is said to be including options such as Homelink and remote entry, with navigation and advanced electronics being added to the higher trims.
Mazda has equipped the popular minivan with a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine that generates about 157 hp and 150 lb.-ft. of peak torque. This powerplant should deliver fuel economy of 22 mpg/city and 29 mpg/highway. As an alternative to this engine, it has been suggested that Mazda may make a different 2.5L 4-cyinder inline motor available, this one capable of creating 184 hp and 185 lb.-ft. of peak Florida torque.
The Mazda5 will continue to offer three rows of seats as well as the current suite of airbags that includes third row side airbags designed to better protect outboard passengers. Interior features such as cruise control, power windows, door locks, Bluetooth hands-free connectivity, and heated front seats will continue to be offered as options on select trims.
The 2015 Mazda5 offered a number of appealing perks that made it popular with Tampa and Bradenton car shoppers, including:
