What’s Different About the New Mazdaspeed3?

Mazda has been keeping the details of the new Mazdaspeed3 under wraps, but sources tell us to expect that the new model will see an increase in horsepower that should put it close to 300-hp. This is thanks to the turbocharged 2.5L 4-cylinder SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGIES engine and 6-speed automatic transmission combination. The new model is also said to be gaining an AWD drivetrain, which is sure to enhance handling and stability and improve the overall performance of the sporty compact.

Insider sources tell us that the 2017 Mazdaspeed3 will see upgraded infotainment options that will likely mirror the capabilities of Mazda’s other higher-end vehicles.

What Will Remain the Same?

The Mazdaspeed3 will remain committed to the automaker’s vision of power and performance and should still be able to pull high fuel economy numbers despite the increase in horsepower.

Drivers will also likely still enjoy many of the standard options available in past years, such as standard remote entry, Bluetooth connectivity for audio and calling, access to SiriusXM satellite radio, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, and other driver convenience features that have come to be associated with the sporty Mazdaspeed3.

2013 Mazdaspeed3 Specs and Features

The last year of this sporty compact was loaded with a number of options that put it in high demand among shoppers looking for an appealing compact with plenty of style, including:

  • Performance Engine – The Mazdaspeed3 was powered by the MZR 2.3L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine capable of 262-hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. This was paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
  • Abundant Features – On the inside, the Mazdaspeed3 offered a 265-watt 10-speaker Bose audio system, dual zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming, and advanced instrumentation with multi-information display.
