Since it first arrived on the market in 2006, the Mazda5 has been a different kind of family vehicle. Unlike other minivans, the Mazda5 has a compact footprint, making it much easier to navigate through city streets, a lot more convenient to park, and simply more fun to drive. However, this fun family minivan is currently in its final model year. Families from Bradenton and Tampa who don’t want a typical minivan will find a lot to love with the Mazda5, but you’d better get to Cox Mazda quick if you want to the last of the new models. Otherwise, you can always check out our used models at Cox Mazda.
What Are You Looking For?
The 2015 Mazda5 delivers a blend of performance and efficiency. It runs on a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that puts out 157 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque and has fuel-efficiency ratings of an EPA-estimated 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. The cabin is equipped with family-friendly features like rear-seat vents and climate controls, rear parking sensors, and satellite radio. It can also be upgraded with a rear-seat entertainment system and remote ignition.
Inside the final rendition of the Mazda5, you’ll find comfortable seating for six passengers, adaptable second-row captain’s chairs, and a roomy 44.4 cubic feet cargo space with the third-row seats folded down.
Critics have been excited about the unique character of the Mazda5.
- Edmunds: “The sporty 2015 Mazda 5 is a good option for small families who don’t need all the space and amenities of a full-size minivan but still want three rows of seating.”
- Left Lane News: “Unlike many modern full-size people haulers, the compact Mazda5 lives up to its minivan billing with compact dimensions, a versatile interior and nimble driving dynamics.”
- Kelly Blue Book: “If the idea of a minivan appeals to you, but you don’t need the added bulk in your life, then the 2015 Mazda5 may just be the ticket.”
As we’ve already said, the Mazda5 is being discontinued following the 2015 model year, so there won’t be a 2016 Mazda5. While that may come as a bit of a disappointment to some, the bright side is that Mazda continues to respond to the needs of drivers with large families with a range of interesting options.
New this year is the 2016 Mazda CX-3, a subcompact crossover that fits between a small crossover SUV and a sporty hatchback. Those looking for more space and power will find it in the 2016 Mazda CX-5. Rounding out the selection is the 2015 Mazda CX-9, a larger crossover SUV with seating for six and powerful V6 power. So even if the 2016 Mazda5 was never realized, you still have lots of exciting and versatile options at Cox Mazda when it comes to large family vehicles with engaging performance capabilities!
